Download Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5)
The biggest, most dynamic and most diverse open world ever created, Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) blends storytelling and gameplay in new ways as players repeatedly jump in and out of the lives of the game’s three lead characters, playing all sides of the game’s interwoven story.
All the classic hallmarks of the groundbreaking series return, including incredible attention to detail and Grand Theft Auto’s darkly humorous take on modern culture, alongside a brand new and ambitious approach to open world multiplayer.
Top 10 GTA 5 mods
Since its PC launch in 2015, Grand Theft Auto 5 has been flooded with thousands upon thousands of user-made mods—so much so this is our third fourth run at adding to an already extensive list.
A warning before we start: As last year’s OpenIV carry on outlined, Rockstar has clarified its stance on modding and has said it does not ban players for modding their single-player game. With that in mind, don’t ever use mods in GTA Online and to play it safe, don’t join GTA Online with single-player mods installed.
Natural Vision Remastered
Inspired by the realistic graphics of games like Forza Horizon 3 and Watch Dogs, Natural Vision Remastered is an ambitious and impressive GTA 5 visual overhaul mod. Razed, the mod’s creator, has worked tirelessly to bring it together—having spent over 1,200 hours (50 full days) of work on the project, and having pored over 40 hours of video footage research, hundreds of photographs, and having wandered down the real-life streets of Los Angeles and neighbouring settlement Salton Sea via Google Street Maps more times than he can recall.
Grand Theft Space
Grand Theft Space transports players from GTA 5’s urban sprawl to the cosmos above. At present, it boasts a functioning space shuttle, 11 planets, three moons and scant alien life. It’s modest—but should it realize its potential, this work-in-progress open-source project could become the fully-customizable space sandbox we’ve always wanted, as it blends real-life research with science fiction to great effect.
Gang and Turf
Lucas Vinicius’ Gang and Turf mod has been around for a while but is still being grown and supported today. It adds GTA: San Andreas’ gang warfare system—in all its PS2-era, squad-based, territory-capturing mini-game glory.
Paying close deference to its source material, Gang and Turf charge players with heading up their own murder squads—within which members are registered, crew colors are sworn by, and patches are defended. Team vehicles are assigned for squad-based transportation, and backup can be patched in by land or parachute when things get heavy. The results are suitably chaotic, particularly when multiple companies rough it out for the same stretches of land—or when another gang relocates their spawn point on the fly. Good luck when that happens!
One of the game’s most ambitious mods, Project London aims to build a London-like city in Grand Theft Auto 5. And while the original GTA: London was set in the late ’60s, this version is inspired by the modern city.
Project London is a work-in-progress venture that’s seen its creator crafting landmarks incrementally, before building the project out into a pseudo interpretation of The Big Smoke. Doing so involves a fair bit of Google Street-mapping, researching real-life videos and photos, and a touch of artistic license.
Ironman Script Mod Version 2.0
Veteran superhero modder JulioNIB has iterated and reiterated on their Los Santos-flavoured Iron Man since GTA 5 first landed on PC over two years ago. First, we had the Iron Man Script mod, then the Mini Hulkbuster IronmanV venture, and now we have the Ironman Script Mod Version 2.0. The latter is easily the most accomplished, impressive, and, crucially, fun addition yet—and comes packing new animations, new effects, new sounds, and new ways to tear up the game’s faux Los Angeles streets.
Dragon Ball script
From prolific Grand Theft Auto 5 superhero modder JulioNIB, the Dragon Ball script mod lets players to tear up the faux LA cityscape from land or sky, utilising a host of DB-authentic powers and moves as they go. Try the Kamehameha energy attack, Ki Blast, Teleport, and/or the iconic Destructo Disc maneuver for size this-a-way.
While some GTA 5 mods enhance the base game’s visuals or tweak how certain in-game systems operate, there’s a lot to be said about the ones built solely for entertainment value. Jet Pack falls squarely into the latter camp by replicating the unorthodox skybound mode of transport that first featured in Grand Theft Auto 5’s 2004 forerunner San Andreas. Taking to the skies never fails to amuse.
Tired of battling the cops? Why not join ’em? The Police Mod Script was once our go-to for GTA five-o fare, however, LSPDFR is a far more involved endeavor which carries over from GTA 4’s mod of similar structure. Listen to the police scanners, report to high-speed chases and shootouts, and lend a general hand in restoring order to Los Santos. With no enforceable wanted level, however, there’s scope to take the law into your own hands.
Superman, The Flash, the Green Goblin
Another trio of super-powered, spandex-sporting characters here by way of Superman, The Flash and the Green Goblin. Everything from laser-firing eyes, superhuman strength, lightning-paced speed and being an absolute evil b*****d is covered here—the latter of which you might feel slightly less morally compromised by, given the Green Goblin is an out-and-out supervillain. That said, Superman and The Flash would have made some bad ass baddies too. Here’s your chance to discover why.
GTA 5 has been treated to a few dragon script mods in the past, but few as sophisticated and fun as JulioNIB’s Dragons V. All the standard mythical winged beast credentials are delivered with aplomb: breathing fire, flying, snatching pedestrians and hurtling them into the air. You’ll need the dragon models created by Quechus13.
